The Radical Recall to Rest – Pre-Orders Now Open
Rediscovering Rest, Reclaiming Rhythm, And Reimagining Christian Community In A Tired World
Hello, and thank you for being here.
Whether you’ve been following A Curious Follower for a while or this is your first visit, I’m so glad you’ve found your way here today. Because this post marks a special moment – one that’s been quietly forming for the past two years.
Today, I finally get to share something I’ve been writing, praying and shaping into life. Something that began as a whisper and has grown, slowly, into a book.
The Radical Recall to Rest.
And from this moment, pre-orders are open.
Why I wrote it
I didn’t write this book because I’d figured rest out. I wrote it because I needed it.
Like so many of us, I’ve felt that quiet ache – the sense that life keeps getting faster while my soul is quietly asking to slow down. We rush from task to task, carry invisible expectations, and tell ourselves that one day we’ll rest – after the next deadline, after the next busy season, after everything settles down.
But life rarely settles.
And somewhere in the middle of all that motion, I realised I wasn’t the only one who was tired. This book grew out of that realisation. It’s an invitation – not to stop everything, but to pause long enough to remember who we are, and who we are not.
To rediscover a rhythm that doesn’t depend on performance or productivity, but on presence and grace.
What the book invites you into
The Radical Recall to Rest isn’t a self-help manual or a seven-step guide to serenity. (I’m pretty sure I’d be a millionaire best-selling author if I had that kind of insight!) It’s a companion for the weary and the wondering. A movement of reflections, stories and gentle questions that create space for you to breathe again.
It follows the same rhythm as the Growing with God framework many of you already know – SPACE – EXPLORE – PRACTICE – a simple three-part movement designed to help us live more slowly and intentionally.
SPACE – creating room amid the noise, so that silence can begin to speak again.
EXPLORE – rediscovering rest as holy imagination, an act of resistance in a world addicted to speed.
PRACTICE – learning what it means to live differently, not in an ideal world, but in the real one you actually inhabit.
It’s not a book to race through. It’s something to sit with. A quiet companion for a slower journey.
What it’s really about
At its heart, this book is about remembering what we were made for – not endless motion, not constant proving, but belonging. Beneath all our striving and scheduling, there’s a quieter truth waiting to be rediscovered: that we were never created to live at the pace of our productivity, but at the pace of love.
Rest isn’t laziness – it’s love in action. That might sound simple, but there’s more hidden in those words. Rest is love that slows down long enough to notice what’s right in front of us; love that listens before it speaks; love that lingers even when there’s something else demanding to be done.
It’s a quiet act of rebellion against the lie that our worth depends on how much we do. It’s choosing to believe, however imperfectly, that we are already enough because we are already loved. That belief is rarely tidy or instant – it’s something we grow into, one pause, one breath, one small act of trust at a time.
Rest is not the reward at the end of faithfulness. It’s the beginning of it.

Why pre-orders matter
Independent publishing doesn’t come with a marketing department or warehouse team – it’s just me, my laptop, and a vision to help people rediscover rest in a busy world.
Each pre-order genuinely helps: it covers printing costs, supports distribution, and lets me plan the launch well. But even more than that, it tells me this message matters – that you believe, as I do, that we need a slower, gentler rhythm of faith and life.
Your order isn’t just a purchase; it’s participation. It’s a shared “yes” to living differently.
A personal thank you
To those who’ve followed along, shared posts, joined Growing with God sessions or simply sent kind words of encouragement – thank you.
You’ve been part of this journey more than you know.
This book is, in many ways, an echo of those quiet conversations we’ve shared. A continuation of a question at the heart of A Curious Follower: how do we live awake – curious, attentive, vulnerable, wonder-filled – in a world that never seems to stop?
So if something in these words stirs in you – if you’ve ever whispered I’m tired too – I’d love you to have a signed copy waiting for you when launch day arrives.
Let’s remember what rest was always meant to be: not an escape from life, but a way back into it. Not the absence of work, but the presence of something more.
With gratitude,

If this is your first encounter with A Curious Follower — welcome. I’m Josh, a writer, facilitator, sometime photographer and reflective practitioner living on the coast.
This space was born from a longing to notice more in the ordinary and to explore faith with curiosity, honesty and wonder. You don’t have to be religious to be here. You just have to be human enough to admit you’re tired — and open enough to believe there might be another way.
If you’d like to walk that journey with me, you’re welcome to subscribe – but even more than that, you’re welcome to join in the wondering.
